Share-and-Tell with Gala Gonzalez

The irony of Gala Gonzalez’s name is not lost on us because she is just that -- a Gala. She’s a spectacle, a celebration, and an event all wrapped up in one. A fashion influencer at a glance, Gala has worked hard to put herself behind the camera and the clothes. She is the designer behind the label Amlul and author of Gala Confidential. A hell of a triple threat if you ask us. We sat with this fashion guru for a BTS interview at our Aurator campaign shoot.

Name?

Title?

What did you want to be growing up?

A hairdresser

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

My emails!

What gets you into bed at night?

Honestly, exhaustion - I'm always tired by the end of the day!

Where is your favorite place?

Bali. It's like going to a healthy rehab.

What makes you laugh?

Sarcasm and my inappropriate sense of humor.

What’s on your bucket list?

Learning how to drive, I never learned.

How do you stay motivated?

People. I love meeting other people who inspire me and motivate me to be the best I can.

Which women have inspired you the most in both career and life?

Jennifer Lopez! She was the first woman to tap into many different professional outlets and kind of start what it means to be an "influencer".

What does being a female in your industry mean to you?

Challenging our own cliches.

How do you celebrate yourself as a woman?

Take myself backpacking a few times a year. I think it's very important to feel comfortable in any scenario. When you have less, you pay attention to things about yourself that you normally wouldn't.

An Aurator has a story to tell and inspires those around her. How do you share your story?

Through my Instagram following. I love sharing what I'm passionate about with them. I try to keep my personal life private, while also showing little windows of it at the same time. I find a lot of things you're maybe embarrassed about you end up getting so much support from people who share the same feelings. That was wonderful for me to see.

How do you hope to be an inspiration for others?

I hope people look at me and think I'm still approachable. People get so caught up with the idea of "fame". We're all normal people at the end of the day.
